Meet the Team

  • Joseph Kuhn

    FOUNDER

Joe Kuhn has been a passionate part of the cannabis community and has focused primarily on cannabis cultivation, and sales. As time progressed, so did Joe’s knowledge of the plant and its benefits- he became an active advocate for helping people who were seeking cannabis remedies for pain, appetite support, sleep support, and other profound needs. Additionally, Joe carries a BS in Environmental Science, and a MS in Outdoor Recreation, Development, and Planning.

As life took Joe to Virginia, he learned more about plant science and cultivation in the Piedmont agricultural area. After 20 years of extensive professional work in the Environmental field focusing on everything from stewardship, conservation, preservation, mitigation of wetlands, stormwater management, and other crucial areas, Joe found himself on a new path. Shortly after the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, Joe founded Albemarle Hemp Company (AHC) in 2019 with a close friend with an extensive Virginia family farming history. By the time the pandemic came in 2020, AHC was entrenched in hemp cultivation and in the retail hemp industry that was taking off rapidly.

From 2020 to present, Joe has continued to dedicate his work to transform Albemarle Hemp Company, as it became Albemarle Cannabis Company, and focus his efforts on continuing to build the product line, support community education and collaborative events, and advocate as the legal cannabis industry continues to unfold in Virginia. As of 2023, Joe has also accepted an adjunct professor position to instruct students the basics of cultivation, cannabis business development, current laws & regulations, harvesting, and product creation and development.

Joe’s long-term hope is to continue to contribute to the community, to provide sound cannabis education to others, and to offer an embracing and diverse workplace for the company’s team members. Joe resides in the Western area of Albemarle County, in the small area known as White Hall. He enjoys spending time with his wife and children, live music, all outdoors activities, and, of course, all things cannabis.
